Design lovers will be more than familiar with ercol. A true icon of British design, the company was founded in 1920 by a young Italian, Lucian Ercolani. Design and people were the cornerstones of ercol from the very beginning. And while the company has evolved over the course of the past century, the founding principles remain: a commitment to beautiful and honest furniture, produced by craftsmen who take pride in their jobs.
Designed for Living and Crafted for Life
Privately owned and family run, today Ercolani’s grandson Edward Tadros upholds his grandfather’s legacy of artistry and innovation. It’s now the only remaining global furniture manufacturer in what was once the heartland of the UK’s furniture industry. And the factory near High Wycombe combines cutting-edge technology with time-honoured craftsmanship, techniques and traditions. .

With its comfortingly familiar lines, Heritage is a direct descendant of the Windsor Chair, which has been synonymous with ercol’s identity for over 80 years. Hand-crafted from solid oak it showcases ercol’s timeless aesthetic, unwavering quality and enduring commitment to honest, affordable furniture.
“While the company has evolved, the founding principles remain: a commitment to beautiful, fit for purpose furniture, produced by craftsmen who take pride in their work and skills,” says Tadros.
A Timeless Aesthetic
Of course the true test of timelessness and longevity is demonstrated by how easily the designs sit in today’s homes. Whether that be contemporary, period, Scandinavian, or a country cottage.
