For the past two years I’ve had a bit of a peacock trend running through my Christmas decorations. From the glittering bird atop my tree, to the bejeweled baubles hanging from the branches, and then the peacock coloured butterflies fluttering down the centre of my festive table. I love the glamour of it so much that I’m considering making it more of a permanent feature in my living room. And it’s going to be so easy because (I’m not sure if you’ve noticed it yet?) peacocks are absolutely everywhere! Not just homewares featuring the beautiful bird either, but the colours of the plummage too. Stunning shades of emerald and sapphire are turning my head with their heady intensity. Read on. Let me tempt you too.

Wallpaper is an obvious choice for featuring a peacock. The elegant shape and long neck of the bird make ideal pattern repeats. Use as a feature wall (or feature chimney breast) and coordinate with a smaller repeat on the other walls. This is the Lazzaro Blue Wallpaper – a textured heavy weight vinyl showing sumptuous peacocks finished with a subtle metallic shimmer. Available from Arthouse.
