It’s that time of year again. Predictions and trend forecasts are starting to appear for the year that is looming ahead. You can ignore them, you can give them a passing glance, or you can adopt them wholeheartedly. Dulux have just announced their colour of the year for 2020 and I for one, am right behind it. It’s called Tranquil Dawn™, and it’s a subtle, cool green. Sometimes it takes a while for a colour to be adopted and loved, but I can see this one will be popular straight away.
Chosen by Experts
A panel of experts have selected this soft green hue to embody the nation’s mood on the approach of a new decade. It reflects a growing desire to understand what it is to be human at a time when advances in technology are making us feel increasingly disconnected from each other. The expert panel consists of colour designers, trend forecasters, design specialists, architects and editors from around the world. This panel includes former Editor in Chief of Elle Decoration UK, Michelle Ogundehin, and was chaired by Heleen van Gent from AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Centre. The panel is in its 17th year.
“Inspired by the Changing Sunrises That Paint the Sky in Different Seasons”
Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director, Dulux UK, says:
“A new decade heralds a new dawn and the hazy pale green tones of Tranquil Dawn™ are calming and comforting just when we need it most in our lives. When paired with neutral pastels and rich jewels it becomes incredibly powerful at creating spaces that encourage making better human connections.
The colours within all palettes including Tranquil Dawn™ have been inspired by the changing sunrises that paint the sky in different seasons and have been designed to make decoration with Colour of the Year simple.”
