There’s no denying our gardens are becoming much more important to us. Back in the days we would rummage in the shed each spring for our old deckchairs, give them a dust down and set them up on the lawn. Job done. Or was that just me? Nowadays our little (or big) outdoor spaces are as important to us as the design of the living room. We may not all be green fingered gardeners, but we want a nice place to sit and entertain our friends. And good design for the garden is not hard to find now either. It seems every high street store is competing for this lucrative chunk of the homewares market and that can only be good news for us. And the result is, we can have our pick of whatever exterior design trend takes our fancy.
I quite fancy this Balinese flavoured trend from Dunelm myself.
As a matter of fact I ordered some black stemmed bamboo just the other day and the BF is outside making a deck and pergola right now. We may not have a view of a lake but hopefully we won’t have a view of the neighbours soon either. And what better way to remind ourselves of exotic holidays than to surround ourselves with etched metal, lanterns and buddha heads.
The cocoon swivel chair above is £199.99 and is the ultimate in garden luxury. Curl up with a good book protected from the sun and wind, and while away the hours on a summers afternoon. Bliss.
Or snuggle up on a hammock with cushions and a duvet. Who cares what the weather brings?
What garden trend will you be going for this summer?
