When you think about Scandinavian design, you usually think about cool, pared back elegance. Craftsmanship married to simple but functional design. And that’s exactly what you get with the new furniture collection from Nordic House. Great pieces of well-made furniture that would fit into any interior. Pieces that serve a real purpose and yet look so good they become stand-out pieces in their own right. And of course, white is such a beautiful finish whether it’s to go in a cute country cottage or a mid-century modern town-house. Those Scandinavians just always get it right!
The Lotta Chill-Out Chair (£550) is made from birch wood with a white lacquered finish and a soft grey herringbone cushion set. I love it’s simple design and just wish my kitchen were a bit bigger as I’d love this in the corner by the window.
The White Wooden Bookcase (£345) is a great no-fuss piece that would look great in any room in the house.
I think this is my favourite. The Long White Bench (£220) would effortlessly accommodate large gatherings in the kitchen or dining room, and looks fabulous with the custom-made graphite grey faux sheepskin cushion (£60) too. I can also picture it in a busy hallway where it would be a handy place to put on shoes and drop bags.
This Drop-Leaf Table with Drawers (£325) conjures up a bit of nostalgia for me. I’m sure my gran had one just like it. It’s aesthetically pleasing and oh, so practical as it allows the table to extend effortlessly to accommodate six, whilst the drawers (there’s one each side) are great for storing cutlery and napkins.
And as you can never have enough storage or display space, this sturdy Wooden Shelf Ladder (£220) is just the place for plants and knick-knacks. It has five shelves of varying depths and can be screwed into the wall for extra strength.
