When I think back to early Spring last year and the first time I viewed Brimstone Cottage, it was the location that left a lasting impression. It was a freezing wet day in March, but there was no getting away from the stunning view out the back. Rain was lashing down, trees were bending, and the lake looked like a muddy mess. But with a bit of imagination I could picture the sunny evenings and long summer days we could spend there. I viewed it with a friend (not the BF who was working) so the decision whether to put in an offer or not was mine alone. I actually decided not to. What looked okay on the estate agents details actually looked like a lot more work than we were probably keen to take on.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and I had a change of mind. The BF still hadn’t seen the cottage but he was upbeat about doing the work, and my friend persuaded me that I wouldn’t find another property with such a pretty outlook. The rest is history.
And now I am so glad that we went ahead.
Our patio (now completely relaid by Gary the builder) and the garden furniture supplied by Out & Out Original is the absolute icing on the cake. I don’t think even in my imagination I envisaged such a scene as this.
Each of the cottages comes with a private patio facing the lake and although not small, I didn’t want to crowd it out with furniture so the Regency 4 seater compact garden set was ideal. The style of the chairs reflects the simple, modern cottage style of the interior and as they are woven with a maintenance free rattan they are perfect for a holiday cottage with nowhere to store them in the winter.
And they are so comfy. They came with shower-proof seat cushions but with the addition of the sofa cushions (from inside) I could happily lounge here all day. And if I get the chance I probably will.
And I like that the teak table is different. I’m not one for matchy-matchy sets in the garden so was delighted with this choice. It’s recycled teak by the way, salvaged from old, derelict buildings and carefully restored, so my conscience is also clear. It’s also incredibly well made so I have no doubt that it will last for years with a little bit of TLC.
The garden furniture was supplied FOC by Out & Out Original for the purpose of this review but all views and opinions are my own as always.

Your patio looks so relaxing… like your own little slice of heaven. I love the teak table! I enjoy that it’s not matchy-matchy and think it’s truly fantastic that it’s recycled teak. I’m a sucker for recycled materials.

It looks wonderful – that view! Lucky your friend persuaded you and your bf was positive about the workload. Looks the perfect spot, and the furniture you have chosen is also just right. Hope you get some relaxing time there, though I expect you will be booked up with happy guests!

I’m the same about matchy stuff. Gives more of a personality to the space when things don’t look all the same.
