I do spend an inordinate amount of time searching websites for new products. Sometimes for clients who are always appreciative of hearing about new undiscovered products, and sometimes for this blog. Sometimes, I have to admit, just for me. It’s so hard though not to be tempted by current fads. I say fads, rather than trends, because there is a difference. Fads are usually cheap throw-away items that come into fashion and disappear just as fast. Often to reappear five years later. Pineapples, flamingos and peacock motifs all spring to mind. Trends are longer lasting. Trends evolve a lot more slowly and stick around, so you are less likely to regret buying that industrial style table or green velvet sofa. So, when visiting favourite websites I click first on ‘new in’ and then I search for items with staying power. And because I’m nice, I’m going to start sharing these finds on a regular basis. I’m reluctant to call it a series, because it will be ad-hoc. Who knows, you might see it here first.
French Connection for the Home
There’s a definite boho vibe going on over at French Connection Home. Lot’s of textured cushions, rugs and even a macrame deckchair. Plus a lot of zinc topped tables, mango wood and marble, that looks industrial, hard wearing and durable. Combine the two and you have a look that will endure and get better with age. A home that hints at well-travelled owners and collections purchased from around the globe. I won’t tell anyone if you don’t.
