It’s high time I sorted out my office at home. Since we moved in a year ago it’s become a depository for anything I don’t know what to do with and this has to change. It’s stifling creativity. And I have to confess I’d rather work from the kitchen table or the sofa than my office. That’s just plain crazy because it’s spacious and light but it just doesn’t do it for me.
So, I’ve been looking at a few concepts. White and minimal with bold splashes of colour. Or white with wood which is a more grown up scheme and less work-like.
White with bold splashes of colour
The white desk with storage does look like a practical choice. I’d have to keep it tidy but I can be disciplined when I have to. And that shelf unit will be useful as well as decorative with a few well chosen objects to make sure it does still look like a room in the home. I’ve room for an armchair and the yellow one looks comfy, but not too comfy (can’t be falling asleep when I’m meant to be working!). And I’d finish it all off with a bright blue accent wall behind the shelves.
White with wood
A perfect combination in my mind. All of the white touches keep it from looking too masculine, (especially that quilted chair) and the addition of metallics in the clock and desk lamp add glamour. I love the magazine storage that doubles as a seat! I’d add textured white walls to this scheme and make sure there were a few plants and fresh flowers on the desk.
