It Will Be All-White But With Bold Accents

So you fancy an all-white interior? You’ve been seduced by those sun-drenched villas of the Mediterranean. Where the morning light is amazing and the sunsets turn those white walls warm with the last of the rays. And it is true that all-white interiors can look stunning. It’s the perfect blank canvas for starters. White is the absolute best surface to reflect light back into a room. It won’t date in a few years, it always looks clean and fresh, and it makes rooms look spacious. But be careful. All-white can also look cold and flat. Some might even say drab in a north facing room.

There are of course lots of tricks to prevent this happening. You can add layers of texture at the very least. You’d have to do this anyway in the winter with a white room. You can add interest with wood and other natural surfaces. Even metal. Or you can go bold with coloured accents. This is by far the easiest look to pull off and it doesn’t prevent you from changing the look with the seasons, or when you get tired of your colour choices. Simply change the cushions and accessories.

When I was younger I always planned to live in an all white home. But the older I got, I realised it is too cold and sterile for me. I’d need a lot of texture and colour to make it feel homely. I do love how they look though even if I couldn’t live with it myself.
