It’s hard to find fault with anything designed in Denmark and this new lighting brand is no exception. Nuura launched it’s four collections recently at the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair and it’s fair to say I’m smitten. The collections are designed by award-winning Danish designer, Sofie Refer and are inspired by Nordic light and the riches found in Nordic nature. Contemporary and minimalist the four designs are supremely elegant and each one is just as beautiful lit, or unlit.
Anoli (my favourite) consists of elegant glass pendants shaped like a drop and inspired by a rainy day in autumn. The collection is made of metal and neatly mouth blown glass in a delicate golden colour. It ranges from sleek pendants to elegant chandeliers and can be customised for larger projects and private homes. Looks amazing hanging in clusters but would look just as good a single pendent hanging low over the bedside table.
Blossi is a lamp collection created from rounded surfaces which are continued in glass and metal and combined with state of the art technology. Inspired by the golden light during the Nordic fall, Blossi is designed to give a soft and delicate light. The collection ranges from a chandelier to lamps for the wall, table (see bottom image) and floor.
Liila is a single lamp, which looks beautiful on the wall or ceiling. Simple in form, it consists of a thin round sheet of metal and a unique, mouth blown glass sphere. Lovely for smaller rooms, bathrooms and the entrance hall.
Miira means beautiful vision and is the obvious name for this simple and balanced collection of timeless designs. Available as a chandelier, wall lamp or table lamp, it’s minimalist design is made even more stunning with an embossed pattern on the glass.
