I Spy – Forbidden City Chinese Furniture……….

I chanced upon the website of Forbidden City Ltd at the weekend and was immediately smitten.

Inspired by furniture from the Ming Dynasty (1369-1644) but re-interperated in a fresh new way.  These gorgeous new designs have used the decorative features, traditions and cultural elements of the centuries old furniture that is kept in the Forbidden City and museums around the world.  I say let the pieces speak for themselves…

 Stunning, wouldn’t you agree?

It is so lovely seeing a post about the beautiful contemporary designs coming from China. I used to live there and work with five designers that hand make all our furniture, lighting and home decor items. We are passionate at Qing Art to promote the ‘made not mass produced’, and this post just goes to show how traditional ideas fit in so well with modern tweaks! I hope to read more, and please look at our website too for some stunning pieces. Thank you.
