Hotels never fail to deliver design inspiration, and the Soho House chain is probably one of the most inspiring of all. While all of the hotels in the chain (there are now around 20 of them) are different in style and located all over the world, they have one thing in common. They all offer their guests atmosphere, luxury and an insane level of comfort. All the things we’d be happy to have back home after we’ve finished our globe trotting. And actually you can, because Soho House has a shop division called Soho Home where you can buy furniture, lighting, soft furnishings and accessories. Here’s a little taster of what’s on offer.
Soho House Amsterdam
‘This rug is based on a vintage Amsterdam School rug which is a very specific style and quite hard to find. You’ll see this in the Monumental rooms. We tried to keep within Scandinavia, Art Deco, Amsterdam School – thinking along those lines. Lots of geometric patterns in the building, lots of tiles, stained windows, veneered panelling in the Monumental rooms; it’s a very masculine, geometric space so it was nice to play on that.’
A Soho House Favourite in Houses from Chicago to Babington
Large, comfy and quintessentially English, it’s a Soho House favourite. The two and a half seat Chesterfield is handmade by the skilled craftsmen at George Smith.
The Reade wall light was designed for Soho House Chicago and is now used everywhere from Babington to Soho Farmhouse, due to its versatility and classic design. With a nod to 1950s studio wall lights, it combines Mid Century style with modern functionality and is ideal for a bedside or reading corner.
English country house style in spades. Clashing patterns, velvets, pompoms and fringing aplenty, not least on the cushions.
