Dickens & Jones is something of a British institution and since it first started trading in 1835 in Regents Street its been through quite a few ups and downs. But a sneak peek at its homewares coming out this autumn as part of an in-house brand of House of Fraser prove that things are definitely on the up.
The collection includes upstairs and downstairs textiles, home accessories, kitchenware and furniture for mix and match style throughout the home. It’s a quintessentially British look that mixes heritage prints and modern design with a fresh, vibrant colour palette. Updated country, if you will. The family style dining table was reassuringly solid and chunky up close and the tableware was fun and colourful.
Traditional checks, quirky motifs and plain textured cushions are designed to be layered for a modern take on relaxed, traditional style. The wire shelf baskets were one of my favourite items and follow the trend for wire storage but updated in pastel colours.
And I couldn’t resist the wooden house shelves. They look just as good standing on the mantlepiece as hanging on the wall and are perfect for all those little bits and bobs and keepsakes that we all have.
Available this autumn from House of Fraser stores.
