Black Cabs

I do love a black cabinet. Well, any kind of glass fronted cabinet really but black ones just seem to command much more attention. Whether placed in a traditional or contemporary setting they make stunning centrepieces. Not to mention a perfect place to store all of our most precious possessions and keepsakes.

But, more than that, I think its something to do with a pull of nostalgia. Once upon a time every home had a glass fronted cabinet and there are lots of stored memories of gazing through the glass wishing I could get my sticky fingers on what was inside. Or rainy afternoons in museums, peering at the contents of all of those display cases.

So what about glazed black cabinets today?

Barney Cabinet from Sweetpea and Willow

This one from Sweetpea and Willow has skilfully turned statement front legs and the two drawers are the perfect place to hide away clutter. It’s mix of antique and modern styling is the perfect combination. At £2,795 its a bit of an investment piece but it will last forever and is a future family heirloom perhaps?

Wall Mounted Distressed Black Display Cabinet, £275, Rockett St George

This wall hung cabinet from Rockett St George is a big favourite of mine. It’s distressed finish and wallpaper backing appeals to me. As does its price of £275.

Large Metal Display Cabinet (Nezita) from Out There Interiors

This one from Out There Interiors is in metal and would work so well in an industrial inspired kitchen or a loft style apartment. I love that utilitarian handle! Its priced at £775.

Karma Oriental Black Glazed Cabinet from Alexander and Pearl

And for those with more classic tastes, this Asian style black lacquered cabinet should do the trick. Very chic at £1,750 from Alexander and Pearl.

I think I might have to get me one.
