A Light and Airy Kitchen Come Cookery School

Imagine walking into this kitchen, come rain or shine, and being confronted by this gorgeous view. Then imagine putting on the kettle or preparing dinner, accompanied by birdsong. Or a gentle breeze. Watching the changing seasons unfolding must be heaven, and I’m totally envious of the lucky owners. The owners in fact found this building when it was totally dilapidated and had the guts and imagination to completely transform it. No luck needed. Just a vision and hard work.

It’s located in the quaint county of Rutland, and this dreamy kitchen also doubles up as a cookery school. Sign me up now! No wonder that wonderful island takes centre stage in this impossibly light and bright room. It measures just over three metres long with a combination of pan drawers and open cabinetry. Thus providing plenty of storage for everything a busy and hard-working kitchen needs. As well as being the main prep space during cookery classes.

The cabinets are all from the deVOL Shaker range, and along the back run is a big pantry cupboard, a range cooker, an integrated bin, a dishwasher and a sink cabinet. All topped off with a hand-aged bespoke copper worktop and an integrated sink that glimmers in the changing light.

The cabinets are painted in Pantry Blue from deVOL’s own range, which is the perfect colour companion to the aged brass handles and fittings. Rich blue shades look good anywhere, but here they are especially grounding in this large extension with its impressive vaulted ceiling and large proportions.

The finishing touch is the lovely Curiosity Cupboard. Painted black with a botanical print decorating the inside back panel. It’s home to an array of choice spirits, liqueurs and the prettiest collection of glassware. I can’t think of a better use for this useful cabinet.
