Take a Look

Frieda and Javvy, founders of the quirky and fabulous British interiors company ‘House of Hackney’, have upped sticks, moved to this Cornish castle and enlisted the help of deVOL for the second time to create another unique kitchen. It’s the stuff of dreams alright. A magical place that just has to be seen to be believed.

There are exotic heated gardens full of banana trees and Indian pools, fruit orchards and Victorian greenhouses so beautifully wild and impeccably planted you feel like you have been transported to a little wonderland.  And, of course, a very special kitchen.

A kitchen fit for a castle was a first for deVOL, so it really had to be something memorable. Classic English furniture was chosen with cabinets reaching up to the ceilings of this incredible room. And they are topped off with castellations! Of course!! It’s a little fantasy touch that does not look out of place with the lofty ceilings and the French tapestry inspired wallpaper by House of Hackney.

The handsome ‘Dairy Table’, is handmade with deep drawers and a soft, smooth marble worktop. The inspiration for this brand new deVOL table was taken from Lanhydrock House, a Victorian estate just a few miles down the road from Trematon. It’s a lovely authentic connection to the area and sits regally with the glamorous Italian cooker and it’s bespoke copper hood.

The beautifully dark original parquet floor, handmade Zellige tiles with hand drawn images of the castle, and simple uncluttered styling make this room so atmospheric and exciting.

And as always with the best things in life, it has a little something that takes it from ordinary to extraordinary. The stripey curtains and lampshades were a genius touch, a little bit of soft femininity in this grand, eclectic kitchen.

Prices for a Classic English kitchen bydeVOL start from £25,000.

The Dairy Table is priced from £8,000.
