Hands up who’s missing a week or two lazing on a sun-kissed beach? Or sipping a cocktail as the sun goes down with fabulous views across a deep blue sea? Well let’s just indulge in a little fantasy moment and imagine we’re here at this family home on Corfu. A stunning villa where the interiors combine a traditional Greek colour palette with modern pieces, to create a striking, calm aesthetic, making the most of the amazing Ionian sea view.
Take a Look
With its idyllic setting perched on the water on the north east coast of Corfu, Yellow London was commissioned to reimagine this six-bedroom family villa, taking inspiration from its beautiful natural surroundings. The client’s brief was to modernise all the rooms to be comfortable and contemporary, while ensuring the house maintained its personality and traditional Greek atmosphere.
A blue and white colour palette, combined with teals and greens, was used as the base for the scheme. The sitting room was kept simple and fresh, allowing the high vaulted ceilings to add to the spacious, airy feeling. While contemporary, neutral furniture was chosen to tie in with the original whitewashed fireplace.
Each of the six bedrooms has its own character and artwork, and Yellow London chose a different colour scheme for each one. Some of the client’s existing furniture, including antiques and bespoke wooden furniture was combined with new furniture and accessories, which were sourced locally. This edited mix, teamed with the fresh colourful fabrics create interest, and contrast with the Greek-style white walls used throughout the villa.
The colour scheme for the master bedroom was inspired by the Greek tradition of decorating in a base colour palette of blues and greens. The client had a very handsome chest of drawers and a gilt mirror which Yellow London incorporated into the room to create a beautifully layered and lived-in look.
But it’s the outside spaces that really are the greatest feature of this gorgeous home. The Greek theme is especially prevalent in the use of blue for the outdoor fabrics on the terrace, but it’s very hard to take your eyes away from the breath-taking views of Albania.
