Chisel and Mouse was started in 2011 by Gavin and Robert who make high quality, handmade models of beautiful buildings.

“At Chisel & Mouse we are enthusiasts, we love architecture, we love technology and we love models.

They pride themselves on being able to reproduce the architect’s original design in stunning model form. Each piece is handmade and individually crafted by a small team of skilled model makers in a Sussex studio.

3D printing is used for rapid prototyping of the models before returning to traditional techniques of sculpting, mould making and plaster casting to build the finished product. By blending state-of-the-art techniques with traditional model making skills they are able to create an inspired collection of high-quality models which are beautiful to the eye and touch.

The restrained colours ensure that the pieces fit any style of interior although some models have fine details, such as window frames etched in metal.

What do you think? Do you like them?

I don’t usually post about shoes but today is going to be an exception.

Because Milly J’s Shoe Designs are like no other.

Quills and Secret Garden Ballet Pumps

Fabulous, fantastical Shoe Sculptures and Art to Wear Shoes.

Her shoes are sourced from highly reputable shoe makers and then Milly turns them into works of art.  Not only do they look beautiful but she ensures that they are well-fitting, comfortable and built to last.

Antiqued Wedding Shoe and Licorice of Sorts

Her Shoe Sculptures make amazing table decorations and shop window displays and can be completely personalised for extra special gifts.

Stunning don’t you think?

I fear I have been neglecting the men lately, so here’s a few little essentials that might just make the batchelor pad just a bit more homely.

And they might go down well with the ladies too!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Zeena on her stand at Home London. Her dazzling smile was hard to resist and so were her designs.

She graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2007 and has since worked in both the fashion and interiors textile industry and continues to work as a freelance textile designer.  She also runs a programme of craft workshops which she hopes will inspire more people to get stitching.

All of her products are hand crafted in the UK and each piece is individually silk screen printed making it truly unique.  Her fabrics are either locally sourced or vintage.  She supports small UK businesses.

The designs themselves are inspired by her love of paper cutting, printing, drawing, sewing and making.  Birds and hearts feature prominently.

Well, as you can see, she has stolen my heart.

If like me, you quite like the look of ‘animal trophies’ hanging on the wall but feel quite squeamish at the thought that they were once living and breathing creatures, fear not.  I have spotted a couple of quite beautiful alternatives lately that I would quite proudly display and no animal was harmed in the process.

Head on Design is a South African multi-creative space where you can find near-lifesize heads made either from leather or eco-friendly white board called xanita.

Just recently they have started collaborating with local artists who have a fresh contemporary style and the sculptures can be sold as originals (painted by the artist) or limited edition prints signed by the artist.

Rene Gibson is an artist based in Florida who works with animal skulls (animals who have been killed for consumption) and creates stunning mosaic sculptures.

She has a very interesting story to tell about how she came to be doing this but I’ll let you visit her website to find out more.

All I know is that they are exquisitely detailed and quite beautiful.

Which do you prefer?

The past few weeks have been ever so slightly busy and I am so sorry for the lack of posts.

I guess I just didn’t realise when we started Heart Home magazine exactly how much work it was going to be and exactly how many hours it would take.  But boy do I love it!

Once again we have been overwhelmed with the generosity of our contributors.  The photographers and the stylists and the writers have all been working their socks off and we hope they know just how grateful we are for their help.  They are such a talented bunch and you are in for a real treat when the next issue is published on the 8th December.

The last photo shoot took place at the weekend in Amsterdam and we have a very special lady to thank.  Mariska Meijers is not only an immensely talented artist but she is one of the nicest people you are ever likely to meet.

We had a lot of fun, and yes we indulged a little!

So here are a few photo’s that I took on my i-phone, just as a taster.  You will have to read the magazine to see the full feature.

Arianna and I stayed at The College Hotel.

I must confess I haven’t yet had a chance to visit the new Jonathan Adler store in London.

I’m saving it for a rainy day.

I have however, spent more time than is good for me on the website and here are the things that I just may not be able to live without.

I’m not a big fan of clashing colours and bright primaries but I think I’ve just convinced myself that I could definitely live with some JA in my life.

Don’t you just want to pick those sculptures up and hold them?

Some of my favourite images this week from all of those lovely blogs out there.

Ok, so I am a bit slow on the uptake and this image has been around since the 1940′s but I am suddenly infatuated with the beautiful face of Lina Cavalieri.

Do you love her too?

For all the keys I’ve ever loved and lost before.

I have a very bad habit of throwing things away.  Well, some might argue that it’s good.  I never keep things in my wardrobe that I haven’t worn for a year.  I re-cycle when I can.  I love nothing better than clearing out a cupboard and restoring order.  And that’s all well and good.

But.  It always happens. Years later you regret that granny’s tea set went to the jumble sale.  You wish you’d kept that vintage lace that used to gather dust and look, well, old-fashioned.  You hunt and hunt in vain for those old buttons that would look great on that new cushion.

It’s the same with keys…

What do you most regret throwing away?
