My New Home Office is Now Revealed

home office with green walls, white furniture and lots of lovely plants

My newly decorated home office is finally ready for public scrutiny. I must admit it wasn’t such a major task – save for the indecision over colour. And once I’d decided on this lovely leafy green and white combination it was simply a question of painting the walls, choosing some new furniture and shelves, and putting it all together. For once I managed to give the BF a rest and did it all myself. And it was all done on a very tight budget too.

My one concession to luxury was my new Amelie office chair from Calligaris. The design experts at this Italian company have been producing stylish, practical furniture since 1923 and I had no trouble choosing one to fit my scheme. The optic white leather option looks contemporary with my other white furniture and is extremely comfortable with it’s deep seat and wrap-around back. I love the attention to detail too. Even the legs are covered in the softest of leather, there is very smart visible stitching, and (wait for it) a zip down the back. All things that elevate the design to one of exceptional quality.

So I finally have a home office that I want to walk into in the morning. I’m no longer tempted to de-camp to the kitchen table, or heaven forbid, the sofa – I can put my music on, light a sweet smelling candle and get some work done surrounded by things I love.

I decided at the last minute to move my London map print to the green wall where it looks much better framed in colour and put my Desenio botanical prints above the filing cabinet. Which probably won’t look this decorative for long. Yes, I do have a printer and officey stuff that will have to go somewhere unfortunately. And yes, I do have an entire wall of bookshelves for files, but who wants to look at that.

But I will be keeping the shelves above the desk looking pretty. All those lovely notebooks I have, finally have a place to go. Plus a few other things that are useful and NICE. As the shelves are made of metal it’s also a great place to put some inspirational postcards, carefully secured with magnets. Much tidier than a pinboard, because I have to admit I’m afraid I am a bit of a neat-freak and can’t stand clutter.

Love the green and white theme. And I agree, if you don’t love the space, it’s very difficult to settle and work in it, often opting for the kitchen table instead. I’ve stripped the wallpaper in my office, so it’s a fresh slate, wondering what to do with it! You’ve given me some ideas 🙂

Really special. Clever you. Can you remember what the green shade is called / who it’s made by? I’ve been looking at so many and so many are too dark or too yellow or too blue … i would love to try this. Thank you so much

Oh it’s lovely! The green is divine. I also think the metal shelves with postcards magnetted on(I don’t think that’s a proper word?) is genius! (I do love my pegboard but I also feel it looks a bit cluttered, am a neat freak like yourself, so your idea is inspired). Chair is absolutely gorgeous – I went off looking on Calligaris – they have some very nice products indeed. Enjoy your gorgeous office space, I am green with envy!

That shade of green is lush. I wish I could keep my desk as tidy as that though. Smart idea to have the non-office desk chair – makes working from home less painful.

I love the shelves. Where are they from (sorry if I am being blind!) They would be perfect for my bedroom makeover….

Such a beautiful room! I love how nature-inspired that green is, particularly against the white furniture. Looks really contemporary but natural at the same time if that makes sense! And green is a colour of balance and growth so perfect for a home office! x

Oh Carole, it’s GORGEOUS!! I adore that green colour and I’m desperate to use a green somewhere in my house (although at this point, I’ve sort of run out of walls) so I’m going to live vicariously through that delicious hue. What a beautiful space you’ve created and I love that chair! Very swish! It must put a big smile on your face to work away in such a fabulous space. The plants and prints are the icing on the cake 😉 xx
