Book Review: Home for Now
Another lovely book for you today.
Home for Now is written by the very talented interior stylist Joanna Thornhill. We featured her home in one of the early issues of Heart Home magazine and she has worked on projects with us ever since. She is so bursting with ideas that it’s a wonder she hasn’t written five books by now! This certainly won’t be her last.
Joanna has been a serial renter until recently when she bought her first home and she has more than one or two tricks up her sleeve to make a rented space home. Not just for renters, this book also gives invaluable advice to first homers too. We’ve all been in the situation where its such a struggle to meet the mortgage every month that there is precious little left over for new furnishings and accessories.
Each page of the book demonstrates that it is possible to create a beautiful home full of personality and ideas regardless of budget constraints or landlords rules. Each homeowner featured has used imagination over and above financial outlay.
In addition Joanna includes lots of project ideas with simple, illustrated, step-by-step guides to help you recreate the ideas at home. And fear not, none of the projects require specialist tools, or DIY, or even sewing skills. Phew!
Even for those of us who have already furnished a home, there is lots of inspiration for little updates that might exercise our creative skills a little. Because after all, decorating is never finished, is it?
