Beautiful and Useful Wooden Planters
Posted by in GardensYou know that well used quote from William Morris “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”? Well, I think that should apply to our gardens too.
I have been pouring over garden websites lately in the hope that the coming spring and summer will be sunny and warm, warm, warm and I can put to good use my new deck. I’m thinking breakfast outside, long leisurely lunches and barbecues, and afternoons snoozing in a lounger. And of course I need new furniture and accessories.
I also need planters, and lots of them. There’s nothing barer than a new wooden deck!
And I’m also thinking of making over the rest of the garden. And that’s where William Morris comes in. I love the look of these wooden planters. Beautiful and useful.
I also love this cascade vegetable planter. It would add some much needed height and would be perfect for herbs just outside the back door.
And I’ve always wanted a potting bench. I’m already dreaming of the ‘pottering’ I’ll do after the annual trip to Homebase to stock up on annuals and bedding plants.
Do you think I’ll develop green fingers?

I’ve been having very similar thoughts lately – since the sun has been making more regular visit to our neighbourhood! I’m thinking of getting (or maybe making) couple of wooden raised beds to have a little and very modest (to match my skills
vegetable patch this summer. Pea shoots, garlic, rocket and some herbs!
Sounds lovely
Love that cascade planter – it’s so pretty! I’ve also seen a great idea with a broad old ladders and pretty terracotta pots that I keep meaning to try.
