A Ceramicist’s Home – Warm Rustic Meets Cool White

It’s that time of year when all of the major paint companies are predicting trends and announcing what we will be painting our homes in the new year. Fair enough you might say. But do I really what to be influenced by fickle fashion and marketing campaigns? Maybe not. I challenge you however, not to be inspired by this beautiful colour palette that forms part of Benjamin Moore‘s 2016 trend stories.

Walls – Simply White (OC-117) in Aura Matte, Floor – Ice Mist (OC-67) in Floor & Patio Low Sheen.

This is a real home. It’s a ceramicist’s home in fact, and it effortlessly combines rustic details and textures with refreshingly white coats of paint. It’s a combination that I find absolutely captivating for it’s contrasts, warmth and utter charm. It looks supremely comfortable, full of light (in spite of the heavy wooden beams), and a joy to the eye. It really is the perfect balance between modern style and rustic charm.

It’s not all white and wood though. Darker neutral shades have been used to great effect as shown above in the kitchen. The gorgeous matt French Press wall grounds the room and creates a corner of cosiness that contrasts with the white cabinets and painted floor. See how it makes the items on the shelves look like works of art and showcases the white ceramics.

Elsewhere the wood planked walls have been given coats of Simply White. While textured rugs and designer furniture continue the modern meets rustic scheme.

For the dining room walls a mid shade has been chosen. I love how the white trim frames the windows and the view.

I also love how even the decorative accessories keep to the colour scheme and theme. Isn’t it amazing how tools and household brushes can look when perfectly styled?

In fact, Benjamin Moore®’s 2016 Colour of the Year, Simpy White OC-117, is the perfect shade to bring this warm rustic, textured setting to life.

Nothing is more relaxing than white, I always say. The modern meets rustic scheme was a splendid idea! The furniture and fixtures really work well with the white and the wood. Overall, great job!

Nice house, I love that traditional touch, and in general, houses with lot of natural light. Lovely.
