Emboldened by last week’s success in the sitting room, Dear Designer has been developing (pun intended) some more ideas for hanging art around the home.
This time with some of her own photography…
Keeping to a landscape theme and using simple black Ikea frames, they look almost professional … ![]()
And the once blank landing walls…
Now look like this…
Now she just needs to get her finger out and make those blinds!
After all, the fabric was chosen yonks ago…
Dear Designers’ Sunday afternoon surf brings you her five absolute favourite things from havenworkroom.com

…meets homely retro.
Laura Anne Marsden is one talented lady.
Not only does she create the most beautiful ethereal wall flowers. She makes them out of re-cycled plastic bags!
Her ‘eternal lace’ wall decorations are created using a technique that is a combination of hand stitching and needle lace making with various processes to change the properties and appearance of the discarded plastic bags.
Laura works entirely by hand and each piece is a one-off.
Absolutely beautiful…
Delightfully named Ned’s Cottage…
Dear Designer is loving everything about this clapboard cottage. From the deep grey paint to the white picket fence…
From the comfy leather armchair to the wood burning stove…
From the Cole and Son wallpaper to the vintage chandeliers…
From the steel lockers, to the florals, to the polka dots…
From the dining table made out of scaffolding poles, to the decking…
To the wire shelves…
To the Cath Kidston cowboy wallpaper…
And even the slate tiled modern bathroom…
Sigh. When can she move in?
Dear Designer is liking this…
A new kind of wall art from Graffiti Interiors…
All of their wall coverings are hand painted using hand cut stencils and of course, the nature of this process means that each piece is subtly different and unique… and they can be bought by the roll or alternatively paper/murals can be painted directly onto your wall by an artist.
They work on textiles, fabric, furniture and floors and apparently they love a challenge!
Dear Designer wonders if it’s too soon to return to South America…
She’s been back a whole nine days…
What would it be like to have a whole new different kind of holiday…
One where she doesn’t have to put on her hiking boots…
Or even walk at all…
Drinks would be brought to her very own hammock…
Someone to turn down the bed and run her bath…
Could she cope with that?
Could she?

Dear Designers’ Sunday afternoon surf brings you her five absolute favourite things from John Derian Co.
A one stop shop for furniture and accessories that just scream good taste…
that add that all important touch of class…
and agelessness…(I know, a new word)
and downright covetness from all your friends…(oops another one!)
and anything that looks as if it were collected over the years…
or passed down over the generations.
They say money can’t buy good taste.
Well it just depends where you shop!
